A lifelong resident of Akron, Marcia attended Fairlawn Elementary School. Kent State High School and graduated from Wittenberg University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
She worked as a computer programmer for MK Ferguson in Cleveland where she met her husband Merle, Cuyahoga County Auditor, and General Tire and Rubber Co, before leaving the workforce to start a family.
Marcia was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and, more recently, a member of Fairlawn Lutheran Church. She served as president of the Grace Lutheran Women’s Society for four years. She was also a member of Witan, the Akron Women’s City Club, and Cuyahoga Falls Women’s Club where she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. A lifelong republican, Marcia volunteered as election judge for numerous elections.
Marcia leaves behind her loving husband of over 54 years, Merle, daughters, Lisa (Michael) Tobin of Dallas Texas, and Susan (Dave Audia) Hooper of Medina, grandchildren—Gillian, Cecilia, Michael Finn and Jude of Dallas, Texas, and Cassandra and Liberty of Medina, and sister, Nita Veber of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Funeral service will be held at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, Friday, July 15th at 11:00 am, with visiting one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
