

Maria Terzic, born May 14, 1928, passed on to the greater life April 5th surrounded by her children after a noble 5 year battle with Alzheimer’s. The beloved widow of George Terzic (deceased 1998), she will be greatly missed by her four children; Joseph Terzic, Irvin( Claudia) Terzic, Helen (Bill)McClure and Mary Ann (Steve) Schler. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Magdalena Flach, sister, Ann Langenfeld, brother, Joseph Flach and grandson, Walter Daunhauer Jr. She is survived by six grandchildren: Brandon, Brian, Kevin (Jane) Terzic, Theressa (Chris) Strobel, Jaclyn Schler and Justin (Tiffany) McClure. Also seven great-grandchildren: Bryon, Katrina and Hunter Strobel, Owen and Jack Terzic, and Emily and Devin McClure. Maria was known for her amazing skills and talents in cooking, baking and crocheting, and was still producing huge afghans as recently as 2 years ago. An active member of the German – American clubs in Brimfield, Ohio and Cape Coral, Florida, singing in their choruses and always participating in Octoberfests. A devoted and dedicated mother; there was no sacrifice too great for her family. She survived the violence and ethnic strife of war-torn Yugoslavia, immigrated to Austria in 1943, where she met George, also a refugee from a displaced persons camp, who persuaded her to come to America in 1951. After settling in Akron, Ohio with son Joseph, they raised 3 more children; they also succeeded in helping to bring the remainder of her family over as well. Her infectious smile, laughter, and spiritual soul will always be cherished by all who knew her. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and personal thanks to the many care managers and staff at Sunrise Assisted Living in Cuyahoga Falls and Crossroads Hospice for their combination of compassion and professionalism through her journey. Family will receive friends Sunday, April 10th from 2-6pm at the Catavolos Funeral Home, 3653 West Market St., Fairlawn. She will be interred in Cape Coral, Florida next to her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, 1815 West Market St, Suite 301, Akron, Ohio 44313.
