Marian began working in the medical industry in the late 70’s as she had a passion for helping others. After working for several small medical offices, Marian began joined Akron General Hospital, now Cleveland Clinic, as a Unit Clerk in the Coronary Care Unit. Marian enjoyed a long career at Akron General for over 20 years until her retirement.
Marian had several hobbies during her retirement including sewing, quilting and found a new passion in researching the family tree. She was so proud of her granddaughter Alexandra and cherished the times she taught Alex during their time together.
During her 90th surprise birthday party, friends and former nurses gathered to share their favorite stories about Marian. She was remembered for strong work ethic and her sense of humor, as well as for the stories she shared about life in New York City.
Fellow workers also remember that Marian always “dressed pristinely” and was friendly to everyone.
She is predeceased by her brothers James, John, Joseph and sisters, Dorothy, Georgina, Gloria, Agnes and Margaret.
She is survived by her loving son, Robert C Xanthos, and his wife Melinda Xanthos, granddaughter Alexandra Xanthos, niece Robyn Conley and many dear friends and extended family.
A private family service of remembrance and prayer will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
