Martha Ann Hollis

Martha was born the youngest of five children at home on the family farm in Brimfield, OH to mother Josie Frances Byers Jackson and father John L Jackson. Gone before her was the love of her life, her husband Derrell Robert Hollis Sr. and was happily married from May 21, 1960 until his death on October 30, 2002. They raised three children--Debby, Cindy, and Robert, and have one heavenly baby Scott Aaron who passed at the hospital. Her second gift of love was with Robert "Bobby" Joseph Strange from December 12, 2012 until his passing in April of 2023.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved crafts, gardening, spending her time with family and friends, playing cards, getting together for picnics, meals, coffee visits, and Bible Study. She was remembered for making everything she touched beautiful including her baking, refurbishing antique furniture, had her own personal style, her beautiful smile, her laugh, and her soul. She was a longtime resident of Bradenton, Florida, wanting to be close to the beaches and warm weather.

Although she bravely battled Alzheimer's with trusting in God, she never lost her kindness, her smile, gratitude towards others, her soft mannered nature, and her good spirit.

She is survived by her two daughters Debby Hollis of AK and Cindy Hollis of OH. Her grandchildren Michael (Jacqui) Sharrow and their children Elayna, Sophie, Merriona; Joshua Sharrow, Kathleen Long (Kowaski Martin), Ashley (Jeff) Wise and their children Lily Beth Jo and Matthew, Christie (Sam) Thompson and their son Caleb; Sarah Magrell. She is also survived by her sister Bettie Finney (Wayne) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Josie Byers and John Jackson, her infant son, Scott Aaron Hollis, her husband Derrell Hollis Sr., her second husband "Bobby" Strange, her sister Jackie Daugherty (Harry), brother Aaron Jackson, brother John Jackson (Pat) and her son, Derrell R. Hollis Jr.

A graveside service for Martha will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Rose Hill Funeral Home & Burial Park, 3653 W Market St, Akron, Ohio 44333. Final resting place will be beside her husband Derrell Robert Hollis Sr. at Rose Hill Burial Park.
