Myrtle was the youngest of three born October 8, 1936 at home in Bellevue, KY. With Myrtle’s brothers being considerably older and her father passing away when she was still young, she and her mother shared a particularly close and loving bond throughout her life. After graduating high school in 1954 from Notre Dame of Providence Academy, Myrtle worked for a CPA in Cincinnati. She met the love of her life Allen at a local dance. During their 9 year courtship, Myrtle and Allen both worked downtown and spoke fondly of meeting up for lunch. They eventually married in 1973, shared their first anniversary with the birth of their son Steven, and celebrated 52 years of marriage prior to the passing of Allen this past February 2026.
Although Myrtle held various jobs in her past, she enjoyed being a homemaker, mother, and staying connected with family and friends. Since first grade, Myrtle has been incredibly blessed to have her best friend Lorraine by her side. Their friendship has grown and remained strong through all the seasons of life, and one of the most special milestones they were fortunate enough to share was becoming grandmothers together.
After becoming grandparents, Myrtle & Allen decided to make the big move up from Cincinnati to Copley. Myrtle thoroughly enjoyed shopping and spoiled both of her beautiful granddaughters, Allison and Lauren. She loved watching them grow, seeing milestones, attending school and dance functions, as well as being a part of family holidays and celebrations. Myrtle has always enjoyed walking, gardening, feeding and admiring birds. She also loved to travel and explore new places with Allen and Steve. Myrtle was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Saint Antoninous Church in Cincinnati. After moving, she frequented Guardian Angels Catholic Church of Copley.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Myrtle Bucher; her husband Allen Wanek; her brothers Edward Bucher (Coletta) and Clifford Bucher (Mary Jane); as well as her nieces and nephews Susan, Eddie, and Dave.
Myrtle is survived by her son, Steven (Sara) Wanek; granddaughters, Allison Wanek, Lauren Wanek. Myrtle leaves behind nephews Jeff Bucher, Ken Bucher, Doug Bucher; nieces Karen Bucher, Patty Bucher, as well as many grand nieces and nephews.
