Norman Wulff passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29. The son of Valdemar and Erika Wulff, Norman lived a life that combined the mind of an engineer with an artist’s heart. A true Ohioan who never lost his parents’ European style. Norm was born in Akron on May 6, 1941. He attended Case Western Reserve Academy and graduated Ohio Wesleyan with a degree in fine arts. His career spanned Firestone and the Ravenna Arsenal, where he served in various levels of management and safety/quality control. An early retirement allowed him to pursue the things he loved most -- his family, art and tinkering. Norman could fix or improve any appliance, gadget, engine or structure and his children, neighbors, friends and a few strangers all benefitted from projects that had been “Normed.” Those same hands that super charged an exhaust fan could turn and delicately throw a clay pot or paint a landscape, and they planted a veritable Eden of flowers, fruits and vegetables at his homes in Akron and Mentor. In fact Norm had such an affinity for planting that more than a few young trees found homes in easements, county parks and maybe even the yards of a neighbor or two. Norman was blessed with 50 years of marriage to his beloved wife Betty, and passed on his skills, and curiosity to his son, Eric (Jenn) and daughter, Becky (Kenny). In his later years Norman enjoyed life on the lake near the Mentor lagoons where landscapes, projects and plants abounded. Norman is survived by a brother Alan, a sister-in-law Jeannette, Eric, Becky and four grandchildren: Marlise, Wilson, Colin, and Connor.
Following a private family service, an open house reception for Norm will be held at St. Elia the Prophet Orthodox Church on Saturday, May 23 from 1:00-3:00. We warmly welcome all that knew him to join us. Please RSVP by clicking on the link.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial trees be planted in Norm’s honor through the Arbor Day Foundation. To ensure the family is notified of your gift, please visit the link and include “Norm Wulff” as the honoree.
