Richard Dean Edgar

Richard Dean Edgar, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2025 at the age of 76, surrounded by his family.

After many years as a “Tin Man”, Richard retired from Alcoa Building Products as a Regional Sales Manager at the age of 67. Over the years Richard received many accolades including National Salesman of the year. His co-workers and customers always appreciated him for his honesty, hardworking nature, and friendship. Richard was also an avid bowler with three perfect games that he was very proud of. He enjoyed nothing more than bowling with his best friends on league nights throughout the years. His other interests included golfing and enjoying the beach with family and friends.

Richard’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandson Jackson. He always made sure everyone knew how much he cared and never came to see Jackson empty handed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Susan, his only son Joel (Joann), his treasured grandson Jackson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Elizabeth Edgar, his brother and sister in law Craig and Pam Edgar, his sister and brother in law Janis and Dick Dodds, and his niece Christy Dodds.

Service Information

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 16 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 West Market St, Akron, OH, 44333. There will also be calling hours on Wednesday, December 17 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Rose Hill Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 17 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 West Market St, Akron, OH, 44333 with interment to immediately follow.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Richard’s name to either the Alzheimer's Association or to Better Together Home Health and Hospice.
