Richard L Eichner

Dick was born on October 13,1930, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, to the late Reverend Malcolm and Beatrice(Williams)Eichner. He attended Central High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he participated in baseball and soccer. He attended Muhlenberg College, where he also played soccer and was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

He served in the Army, from 1952-1954, during the Korean War, where he was stationed at the Army headquarters in Orleans, France. When he returned home he worked as an accountant for Firestone Tire and Rubber company, in Akron, for 33 years. After retirement, he worked as a starter and golf ranger for Rawiga County Club.

Dick was a member of Faith Lutheran church where he served on the Church Council and several other committees. He was an avid Ohio State football fan, enjoyed the Cleveland Orchestra, especially attending concerts at Blossom Music Center and Severance Hall and loved to play bridge. He enjoyed touring many US cities under the Elderhostel program and made multiple trips to Europe.

Proceeded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Beverly(Judge) and brother in law Norman Knuttle, he is survived by his children, Dr. William (Tammy) Eichner, Richard (Gayle) Eichner and Susan (Daniel) Malkowski; grandchildren, Josh(Deidre), Seth, Heather(Mark) Miller, Eric(Carly) Flint, Samantha(Bradley) Blair, Allyson(David) Stiller and Danny(Tiffany) Malkowski, 3 step grandchildren Ryan, Ricky and Andrew and 13 great grandchildren and sister Audrey Knuttle, of Spokane, Washington.

Per the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private services will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park.
