He was born April 11, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Ferdinand and Lorry E. Brubaker. Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Deborah, sons Brian and Stephen, cherished granddaughters Kaitlyn and Kara Brubaker, siblings: Frank, Thomas, and Lorry (Chick) Kormanik. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Nancy (Tom) Crawford and Susan Ziegler, along with five nephews, three nieces, and dear family friend Amy Roberts.
Bob was a proud 1959 grad of Buchtel High School and won the city championship in pole vaulting that year. He attended Akron University where he lettered in track and wrestling. He later served as an MP in the US Army and after an honorable discharge, graduated from International Business College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Soon after, he was employed at Jet Rubber Co. in Rootstown, and subsequently as a men’s furnishings buyer for the M. O’Neil Company until his retirement. After retiring, he worked at Summit Racing Equipment.
Bob was a quiet, gentle man with a strong work ethic, always providing for his family with diligence. His love of physical fitness and exercise were his passion throughout his lifetime. Even when Parkinson’s disease left him unable to be at the fitness center, Bob did his daily workout routine at home. He was an avid and accomplished racquetball player for many years.
Bob’s passing leaves a deep hole in the hearts of his loved ones and friends; his presence in our lives will be forever missed.
