Smitty was born on September 12, 1947 in Wadsworth to Clabe and Hazel (Jackson) Moore. He graduated from Orrville High School and then went on to The University of Akron and received his BA, then to The University of Louisville to receive his Master’s Degree in Social Work. He married, Marketha Kay (Scott) in 1967, and they had five children. Together, he and Markie operated Together We Can Counseling Center in London, Kentucky for 12 years. Smitty then retired from the Department of the Army as a Licensed Social Worker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 52 years, and daughter, Robyn Miller.
Smitty will be deeply missed by his children, Shannah (Rod) Kurjian, Scott (Katrina) Moore, John (Molly) Moore, Bob (Leah) Moore, daughter-in-law, Christina Moore, son-in-law, Damon Miller, adopted son, Gary (Gigi) Snyder, 19 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family may come to call on Friday, August 26 from 10-11 a.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 West Market Street. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial to take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
