Born in Akron, Ohio, Susan was the beloved daughter of Hilder Carlson (née Neslon) and Marvin Carlson. She earned her Master’s Degree and spent her career as a dedicated teacher, touching countless lives through her compassion and commitment to learning.
Susan was known for her sharp wit and great sense of humor, which brought light and laughter to everyone around her. She had a creative soul and enjoyed crafting—especially jewelry making and beadwork. A passionate reader and eager traveler, she embraced both quiet joys and new adventures.
Above all, Susan loved her daughters fiercely. For many years, it was just the three of them, and together they formed a strong, enduring bond. Her love and devotion as a mother defined her life, and her daughters and grandchildren were her greatest joy.
She is survived by her daughters, Anne Yarema (Steve), and their children Sam and Madelyn; and Julie Nicholson (Shaun), and their child Christian. She is also survived by her brother Gary Carlson (Jean), many nieces and nephews, and extended family in Chicago.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Biro; her mother, Hilder Carlson; and her father, Marvin Carlson.
Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W Market St, Akron, OH 44333. A funeral service will follow at 1:15 PM, with burial at Rose Hill Burial Park.
Susan will be remembered for her strength, creativity, and joyful spirit. Her deep love, unwavering dedication to her family, and infectious humor will be profoundly missed and forever treasured.
