Tammy was born September 22, 1965 in Akron to the late James R. and Mildred V. (Schrimsher) Waddell, Sr.
Tammy was a graduate of Woodridge High School. She attended the St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing and completed her degree at Ohio University. As a dedicated nurse, Tammy provided compassionate care to all her patients. Her love for God and people was a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of many.
Tammy enjoyed the outdoors. During the summer months, she loved gardening and she loved canning the fruits of her labor. She also enjoyed feeding the many birds which came to her garden sanctuary. In addition, Tammy was her children’s unofficial tax accountant; they called her “H&R Doodle”.
Her nickname of “Doo” was given and cherished by her grandchildren and children. Tammy adored her family. They could count on her to provide special requests of food or gifts. And when they were coming to visit, she would be sure to have a full snack drawer waiting.
Besides her parents, Tammy is preceded in death by her wife, Kathleen Lynn Spencer, her brother, James R. Waddell, Jr. and her sister, Sherry Simmons.
She is survived by her children, Chad (Heather) Jones, Samantha (Duane) Varga, and Simone Spencer; her siblings, Carol (Howard Moomey) Waddell, Judy Board, Glenn (Jeannette) Waddell, and Brenda (Karen Bruno) Waddell; four grandchildren, Ella, Chance, Chad, and Claire; she leaves eleven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and her furry companions Puss and Bootsie.
Friends may call 6-8PM Monday, April 29th at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W. Market St. in Akron, where friends may call 10-11AM Tuesday, April 30th, Rev. Doug Damron (Nephew) and Rev. Brenda Waddell (Sister) will begin the funeral service at 11AM. Interment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in honor of Tammy D. Waddell.
