

He was the loving husband of 60 years to the late Susan (nee: Woodward). Weden was the father of Amy Spence Gutmann and Scott Woodward Spence (wife Eloise Campbell), Grandfather to Dan (wife Anna), Greg, Kate, Andrew (wife Leezan) and Dean, Great-grandfather to Adelay, brother to Martha , John and Betty.
Weden attended Cleveland Heights School; he graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy before entering the Navy during WWII. He served aboard the USS Walsh, a Rudderow-class destroyer escort, high-speed transport vessel. Returning home to Ohio, Weden graduated from The Ohio State University Agricultural School, married Susan and they began their family. He was an avid gardener, and loved the land of the Western Reserve as well as spending time at ‘The Cottage” on Walloon Lake, MI. He skied, sailed, built ship models and was a prolific letter writer. A lifelong sailor and member of the Mentor Harbor Yacht Club, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held in Weden’s honor Friday, June 1st, at 3PM at Garfield Memorial Church 3650 Lander Rd. Pepper Pike where family and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Weden’s name to Crossroads Hospice 701 S.E. 82nd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73149 or Garfield Memorial Church.
