Drexel E. Mitchell

Drexel was born July 17, 1914 in Ellery, IL. His parents were Elmer and Bessie (Green) Mitchell. He married Louise Rademacher February 9, 1936 in Lawrenceville, IL and she preceded him in death March 9, 1977.

He worked at Johnnye’s Manufacturing Company and Champion Labs in Albion. He was also a caretaker at the Albion Public Library for over 60 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Albion and the American Legion. He was a veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his 2 daughters; Dixie (Doyle) Longbons and Dolores (Curtis) Ingram both of Albion. He is also survived by 4 grandsons; Doug Longbons, Van (Robin) Longbons, Jeff (Sheila) Ingram, Jerry Ingram 6 great-grandchildren; Josiah, Brittney, Tabitha, Alex, Aaron, Carlee, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; Eden, Jackson and Avery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 sister; Hazel Copeland, and 6 brothers; Harold, Herschel, John, Corwin, Carl, and Tommie Mitchell.

Funeral service will be Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:00am at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery with military rites at the graveside. Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2012 from 9:00am until time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Albion Public Library.
