Gladys was born March 14, 1921 in Burnt Prairie, IL. Her parents were Virge and Annie (Musgrave) Pollard. She married Wilson Carter October 1, 1938 in Henderson, KY and he preceded her in death June 22, 1981.
Gladys was a cook at the Bowling Alley in Albion and worked at the meat counter in the IGA in Albion. She loved her flowers and gardening, crocheting, quilting, and needlework. She also enjoyed cooking and bowling. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Gladys also enjoyed country music videos especially Randy Travis and Josh Turner. She loved her children and grandchildren very much.
Gladys is survived by her daughter; Barbara Ann (David) Terry of Albion, sons; William (Eva) Carter of Fairfield, IL, Danny (Donna) Carter of Albion, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 5 sisters; Marie Cleveland, Edith Graham, Amy Sheraden, Maggie Allison and Grace Wohlhueter, 2 brothers; Raymond Pollard, Chester Pollard and 1 great-grandson; Michael Dwayne Rogers, and 1 son-in-law, Sergeant Jerry Chapman.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00pm at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, IL.
