Herschel was born at his family’s home in Albion on September 3, 1931, to Earl W. and Mabel (Fisher) Reid.
Herschel served in the Army during the Korean War, mostly stationed in France. He was a simple man, who led a simple life, and loved his farm.
Herschel is survived by his nieces and nephews, Stanley Mason of Albion, Brett (Debbie) Mason of Albion, Regena Dorval of Evansville, IN, and Shirley Reid of Albion; great nieces and nephews, Derek Mason of Albion, Hillari Mason of West Salem, Chris Baker of West Salem, Dustin Reid of West Salem, Kim Baker-Almiro of Plano, TX, Frank Dorval III of San Marcos, TX, and C.J. Dorval of Austin, TX; and sister-in-law, Florence Reid of West Salem.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl W. and Mabel; brother, Hubert Reid; sister, Hazel Mason and her spouse Charles; Nephews, Don Reid and Larry Reid.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from 9am -10am at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at 10 am at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion with burial to follow at West Village Cemetery near Albion.
Memorials may be made to Albion American Legion Post 590, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
