

Ina Lee Sample, of Ellery passed away Thursday evening at her home. Ina Lee spent most of her 83 years living on their farm, south of Ellery. She was born November 27, 1930 to Frank and Ora Mitchell. She attended Mitchell School, Albion High School and McKendree College in Lebanon, receiving a degree in elementary education. After graduation, she taught a couple of years at Wabash School at Ellery, then joined her husband, Delmar, in Lawton Oklahoma where he was serving with the US Army. After his release from the army, they returned to her family farm and spent the remainder of her life farming and raising their family.
She is survived by one son; Ronnie (Carol) Sample of Ellery, Illinois, three daughters; Joy (David) Coles of Ellery, Illinois, Beth (Matt) Seals of Ellery, Cathy (Wayne) Provines of Williamston, Michigan. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Ora Lee (Blake) Jefferson, Katie Sample, Nathan (Leah) Sample of Ellery, Illinois, Niki (Chet) Greathouse of West Salem, Illinois, Todd (Wendy) Coles of Albion, Illinois, Lesa (Daniel) York of Fox Point, Wisconsin, Dana (Keith) Gingerich of Sullivan, Illinois, Jason(Meagan) Provines of Fairfax, Virginia, Danielle (Chris) Ricotta of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ean (Lindsay) Seals of Francisco, Indiana, Emily (Greg) Perkins of Springfield, Illinois and twelve great-grandchildren: Kyler, Carissa, and Trenton Jefferson of Ellery, Illinois, Wyatt, Cody, and Brook Greathouse of West Salem, Illinois, Grant and Julia York of Fox Point, Wisconsin, Heidi and Shiloh Beadles of Albion, Illinois, Shali Greathouse of Olney, Illinois and Tyli Greathouse of West Salem, Illinois and one great-great granddaughter, Novalyn Greathouse of Olney, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister; Vernelle Smith.
Ina Lee was a member of the Bethel Church of Ellery. She had served as a pianist and Sunday School teacher for many years. She was an avid quilter, making many quilts to share with her family.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11:00AM at Bethel United Methodist Church, Ellery, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, IL.
Memorial contributions will be accepted for Matt Henson’s ministry-Living the Adventure and the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Foundation.
