Owen Ewing

Owen Ewing, 81 of Browns, IL passed away, Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Owen was born January 11, 1931 in Rock Island, IL. His parents were George and Ollie (Wood) Ewing. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Broster May 2, 1952 at Friedens Church in Wabash County and she preceded him in death August 31, 2008.

Owen was a machinist for Snap-On-Tools in Mt. Carmel for 29 years before retiring. He was employed by Dependable Oil Co. for many years before going to work at Snap-On-Tools. He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Browns, IL. He loved to camp and fish and was a passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He is survived by 2 daughters; Marianne (John) Weber of Albion, IL, Melinda (Dean) Thomason of Browns, IL, 1 son; David (Debbie) Ewing of Chapel Hill, NC and grandson; Russell Ewing, Jr. of Evansville, IN, 1 brother; Jack (Wilma) Ewing of Pickneyville, IL, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 son; Russell, Sr. and 2 sisters; Lois and Wilma.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 2:00pm at the United Methodist Church in Browns, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until time of service at the church. Burial will be in the Browns cemetery in Browns, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Browns cemetery.

Ingram Funeral Home of Albion, IL entrusted with all arrangements.

Marianne, David and Melinda,
Sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I spent so much time at your house when I was in grade school and your mom and dad were like a second set of parents. I cherish the memories of childhood in Browns and think of you often. If you ever get to central Florida look me up. You are always welcome at the Bender's.
