Vonda Maria Glover
July 10, 1929 – November 19, 2017
Vonda M. Glover passed peacefully from this life to Heaven at 12:23 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Bone Gap, IL, surrounded by her family. She was born west of Grayville to Melvin and Julia Hodgson Hortin on July 10, 1929. She married the love of her life, Leo Glover, on September 4, 1948. He preceded her in death on their 50th wedding anniversary, September 4, 1998.
She was a kind, loving Proverbs 31 wife and mother. She was a member of the Ridge Baptist Church from childhood where she met Leo.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald D. Hortin in 2010. She is survived by her sister, Doris Shain of Mt. Carmel; her brother, Dean (Lecta) Hortin of Carmi; her daughter, Judy Wheeler of Effingham; her son, Danny (Debbie) Glover of Bone Gap; grandchildren: Jennifer Connolly (Mason) of Granite City, Tim Wheeler (Melissa) of Oakland, Mike (Lisa) Glover and David (Amy) Glover all of Bone Gap; great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Jacy, and Evan Connolly of Granite City; Leo, Cole, Lincoln, and Tucker Wheeler of Oakland; Justin, Emma, Grace and Andrew Glover and Madi Rice, all of Bone Gap.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to the funeral, at the church. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.
