Albert married Arlona Louama Toman on November 2, 1963. Albert leaves behind his loving wife, a daughter, Adah McCallum Whisman (Joseph); and two sons: Donald Albert (Sarah) and David Mark (Wendi). Grandsons surviving Albert are: Homer, Jon, Jesse, Caleb, Jacob, Noah, and Malachi McCallum and Tyler (Miranda) and Pierce Whisman. Granddaughters are Marlene McCallum and Delphia Rose (Austin). Great-grandchildren are Joseph, Solara, and Preston.
Parents are deceased, as well as, two grandsons, Joshua David McCallum and Charles Whisman.
Albert graduated from Sparta High School, Michigan State University (Civil Engineering Degree) and the University of Michigan (Juris Doctorate Degree). Al worked for Aiken and Townsend in Jackson after receiving his law degree. He retired from Consumers Power Company in 1991. Al enjoyed running, biking, fencing, farming, raising a garden, and writing a weekly column, “Thoughts, Ramblings, and Observations”, for Springport, Homer, and Brooklyn. He wrote several books and published one of them, “Prostitutes, Margarine, and Handguns”.
Al died at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan on Friday, April 5, 2024.
Visitation will be at 4:00 PM and the funeral will be at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion. A lite meal will follow at First Baptist Church, 981 Haven Road, Albion, MI, 49224.
