Celebration of Life
Forty-Seven Years ago, Arthur and Vivian welcomed their first-born son into their lives. ARTHIAN FEDEL DAVIS, a healthy baby boy, weighing 6 lbs, was born on September 18, 1975, at 2:01 p.m. In a burst of creativity, the excited new parents designed their son’s name by combining their first own first names; that choice symbolized their bond of “togetherness” in raising their son who was fondly known as “Artie”.
Sadly, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, Arthian passed away in Stonecrest, Georgia from cardiac arrest following a particularly difficult asthmatic episode.
Arthian spent his formative years in Albion, Michigan where he joined Bethel Baptist Church at age 7 and actively participated in all available youth programs (with a little coercion) including the Children’s Choir, Youth Usher Board, Vacation Bible School, Seasonal Youth Programs, etc. He attended Albion Public Schools, Albion Wildcats, through graduation which gave him the necessary academic foundation for success in post-secondary education. During his matriculation at AHS, Artie participated on the Varsity Wildcat Football Team; Student Council; played the trumpet in Band; Lettered in Track and Field; selected for Project Close-Up; served on the Albion Homecoming Escort all four years; received high honors in math and English classes; and was employed at McDonald’s of Albion as soon as he reached the age of 16. Following high school, he pursued post-secondary studies in Business Administration and Accounting and earned a BA degree at Tuskegee University. He also surprised friends and family with his tenor/baritone voice – which earned him a choir scholarship after his first semester I college and provided opportunities for him to travel extensively with the Tuskegee University Choir.
Upon entering the professional world, Arthian held positions in accounting, medical records, and industrial accounting. He did further study at Clayton State University focusing on Voice and Movement, Improvisational Speaking, Acting Styles, and Independent Courses in Voice Production. He was a Voice Entrepreneur with the Vocal Arts Production Company as a VoiceOver Artist where he narrated audio books and commercials. He was also an independent Travel Agent with Travers Global Travel Agency. In his spare time, he coached elementary school students in the Art of Chess, leading to three students qualifying for Georgia State Chess Competition.
Artie was a fun-loving, kind, generous, and well-liked individual. He is described as a smart and independent (“I did it My Way,” `a la the Frank Sinatra song); multi-talented; an able to intellectualize on politics, sports, or anything he chose. He is further described as an “Out of the Box Thinker”, who challenged the conventional thinking of others. He had a natural comedic spirit that could bring laughter to everyone he met, loved his native Detroit Lions through thick and thin, and was un unwavering friend to many.
Arthian was the proud father of two lovely daughters. Following her high school graduation, Jorden Davis, age 18, enrolled at North Carolina A&T University to pursue a career in Public Administration following her high school graduation. Daughter Logan Davis, age 16, is a high school sophomore and enjoys percussion and the fine arts. She plans to pursue music production or nursing in college.
Until his untimely death, Arthian enjoyed spending time in his beautiful home in Stonecrest, GA with his wife Angelita; family members; engaging in his newfound voiceover activities; connecting with enduring friends; and pampering his four-legged best friend Kaleesi.
Arthian was preceded in death by his son Nathan Davis; Grandparents Rev. James and Lola Aycox; Grandmother Catherine Graham; and Mother-in-law Gladys Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his memory with wife Angelita; daughters Jorden and Logan; parents Arthur and Vivian Davis; brother Adrian (Tyann) Davis; nephews Christian and Cameron Davis; god-sisters Alycia Williams-Marshall, Cynthia Rodgers, and India Sims; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, and lifelong friends.
Arthian shared his life with others for the greater benefit. A fitting tribute to his memory to consider is to give to any Albion Community Foundation Youth Oriented Program or the charity of your choice.
A memorial service to celebrate Arthian’s life will take place on Friday, April 7, 2023 beginning with family hour at 11AM until the time of service at 12PM at Bethel Baptist Church, 523 Washington St., Albion, MI.
