Charles “Mac” Henson, age 85 of Albion passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born April 25, 1934 in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee the son of Allen and Myrtle (Drake) Henson. He married Phyllis I. Cooley on September 26, 1958 and she preceded him in death on March 23, 2008. Mac worked some years at Albion Malleable and then was employed as a Truck Driver for Way Bakery for many years until his retirement.
Mac was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He thoroughly enjoyed his family. Even when he couldn’t be close to them in person, his day could be brightened by simply seeing pictures of them. He also enjoyed the outdoors, yard work and running around on his John Deere Tractor. In his younger years, he liked to play softball and was known for his Fast pitch.
In addition to his loving wife of 49 years, Mac was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Howard, Thomas and Ernest Henson and 6 sisters, Martha Massey, Lucy Stuart, Eunice Brady, Sarah Ward, Jessie Davis and Mary Mulkey.
Mac leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Sandra (Paul) Podlewski of Grass Lake, Paula (Jeff) Cooper of Hastings, Jeffrey (LeeAnn) Henson of Parma, Brian Henson of Olivet, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 1:oo PM at the Clarence Township Hall, 27052 R. Drive North, Albion, MI 49224.
