He lived a life full of hard work. He drove 18-wheelers for many years before retiring. He retired from the military, Navy and National Guard. When he wasn’t working, he was camping, woodworking or doing the many projects him and his wife set forth to accomplish. He was a man whom always had a joke ready and waiting for you, like “How are you feeling today?” His reply, “Usually with my fingers.” He overcame so many health issues and usually with a smile. A strong man that taught us all that you just have to keep going. He will be missed greatly. Loved by many. Never forgotten.
He is survived by his daughter, Shawn McGillis, son in law, Nashune Blakely, grandsons, RaShaud Blakely, Rahkym Blakely and Korie Blakely.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, siblings and parents.
Special thanks to Hope and Chris Toledo, you were and always have been right beside us.
From Shawn: Thank you, Dad, for giving me the strength to make it through anything. The love that you and Mom always gave. You are always and forever remembered and loved.
Any donations or flowers can be sent to his home.
Interment will be announced at a later date.
