Dolores Dodes, 94, of Homer, formerly of Albion, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born April 7, 1919 in Eckford Township, Michigan, the daughter of William and Ruby (Bailey) Pell. On May 4, 1940 in Concord, Dolores was united in marriage to Maurice Dale Dodes who preceded her in death January 13, 1996.
She was a lifelong resident of the area, was a homemaker most of her life, and was a caregiver to many people. She and her husband delivered newspapers receiving multiple “Carrier of the Year” awards. She was a member of Caring Community Church, enjoyed sewing, playing the hammered dulcimer and enjoyed reading.
Dolores is survived by four grandchildren, Natalie (Michael Coy) Kimber of Homer, Lorrie (Lloyd) Mosher of Homer, Scott (Debbie) Dodes of Portage and Ross (Bunny) Dodes of Covington, TN; 10 great grandchildren, Brittany, Bryan and Tyler Mosher, Morgan and Garrett Kimber, Gage and Sydney Coy, Dale Jackson Dodes, and Josh and Ryan Powers; daughter-in-law, Sandra (Cecil) McClelland of Homer; sister-in-law, Louise Wenzig of Iowa; special friends, Bob and Audrey Ackley, Pat Konkol and Diana MacGregor. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald, two brothers, Keith and Allen, and a sister, Norma Beasley.
Family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Caring Community Church, Albion. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
