Donald Anglin 72, was born on July 21, 1949 in Albion, MI. to William E. and Beatrice Ernestine (Harris) Anglin. His twin brother Ronald shares the same birthdate. Donnie, as he was called by everyone, accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age.
He graduated from high school in 1967 and was part of the ceremony for the first class to graduate from the new Albion Senior High School. He married Shirley Crenshaw and to this union two sons were born.
Donnie was a veteran of the Vietnam War, upon returning home to Albion he became employed by Harvard Industries of Albion and later by General Motors Chevrolet Manufacturing of Flint, MI. He was known for his athleticism playing various sports for the high school. His true passion was baseball and softball. He started as a youth playing T-ball in the city’s recreation program, then church and city league softball. He also played with the Albion Panthers Baseball Club. After moving to Flint, he went on to play softball with several of Flint’s prominent teams, The Super Fly Softball Club, The Old School Softball Club, and The Black Sox. The Old School team was undefeated and he later was inducted into the Greater Flint Afro-American Hall of Fame in 2015 as a member of that team.
Donnie leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Courtney (Lynn) Anglin and Terrance Anglin, both of Kalamazoo, MI. His siblings, Melvin Anglin, Westland, MI., Ronald (Bonnie) Anglin, Albion, MI., Daniel (Sarah) Anglin, Ann Arbor, MI., Pamela Brown, Albion, MI., Jennifer (Herschel) Caldwell, Albion, MI., Edward Anglin, Albion, MI., Darla Moorer, Albion, MI., and Kathy (Raymond) Wyrick, Albion, MI. Four grandchildren, Jalen Anglin, Taylor Anglin, Terrence Evans, and DeVontre Evans. Very special friends acknowledged are, Jacqueline Brown of Flint, MI. and Allen White of Albion, MI., and two special step-grandchildren, Tiarance and Tiara Paylor along with a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Viola Anglin and Valerie Short.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 12:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 49224 with family hour starting an hour prior to service at 11:00AM
with Pastor Fred H. Alexander Jr. officiating. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
