Ellsworth McKinley Anderson, age 97 of Albion passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 from Spring Arbor Assisted Living, Spring Arbor, Michigan. He was born February 16, 1917 to Hugh and Chloe (McKinley) Anderson in Newaygo, Michigan. On June 12, 1941 he married Edythe Butler in Detroit, Michigan who preceded him in 1994.
Ellsworth served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. A Graduate of Newaygo High School in 1935 then
went to Eastern in 1939, received his Masters from Wayne State in 1955, taught and coached at several schools in Highland Park, Scottville and Lakeview before coming to Albion.
During 1951 – 1976 he taught and coached football, basketball, tennis and was Athletic Director at Albion. President of the Twin Valley Athletic Association, taught and coached varsity at Southern Cal during the war, was in charge of U of M speech camp in Northport, Michigan. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Albion, the Exchange Club, and Michigan Coaches Hall of Fame at Mt. Pleasant.

Daughter - Barbara Anderson
(2) Grandsons-Daniel Anderson
Brent (Nevine) Anderson
(4) Great Grandchildren- Grant, Sean, Michael, Chad Anderson
Sister- Eileen Edwards
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Edythe.
According to his wishes, Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation
A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
