Franklin Delano Roosevelt Murphy

Bro. Franklin Delano R. Murphy, affectionately called Frank/Franky D, age 86, passed January 23, 2026, at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. Frank was born May 1, 1939, in Fayetteville (Lincoln County), Tennessee. Frank was the fifth of six children born to the late Mr. Henry G. Sr. and Mary Gertrude (Hider) Murphy.

Frank attended Boonshill Elementary School and West High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Frank relocated to Albion, Michigan and he completed his high school education at Albion Senior High School adult school. He received a scholarship and attended Kellogg Community College, Battle Creek, Michigan.

Frank was self-employed. He was a preacher and song leader for the Church of Christ. He was also a notary public, the owner of J.P. Auto Sales, a landlord, and a handy man for the community.

He met the love of his life, Carolyn “Sue” Robinson, and they were married 51 years.

Frank is survived by his wife, Carolyn “Sue”; son, Reggie (Sonya); daughter, Zandra; sister-in-law, Madalene Murphy; brother-in-law Michael Legion Robinson; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Henry Jr., William, and John, and sisters, Bena Harris and Birdia Murphy.

A family hour will be held on February 6, 2026, at 11:00 am at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, located at 811 Finley Dr, Albion, Michigan, 49224. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 12:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Albion Memory Gardens, Albion, Michigan.
