Doug had an infectious smile, beautiful blue eyes, was a terrific role model and he was very protective of his family. Doug was the “definition” of what a husband and dad should be. With his teddy bear personality, Doug never met a stranger. He went by many names: Big Sexy, Dougie Fresh and Biggy G. were a few of the favorites. Doug was an avid outdoorsman who loved shooting sports, archery, hunting, fishing, camping and his go to wardrobe was anything with camo print and t-shirts with smart aleck sayings on them. Family was the center of Doug’s life and he enjoyed cooking pasta and grilling for his family and friends. Doug was a proud member and past president of the UAW Local #1176 at Decker Manufacturing where he worked for the past 33 years.
Per Doug’s wishes, cremation will take place with a Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday, March 24 at 3:15pm at New Hope Church, 13600 28 Mile Road, Albion, MI, with Pastor Dave Beebe and Pastor Al Henson officiating. At the family’s request, please wear camo attire in honor of Doug. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the memorial service.
