Gerald Collins “Jerry” age 72 of Prescott Valley, AZ, formerly of Albion, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at his home in Arizona. He was born January 29, 1947 in Albion the son of James and Rosa (Smith) Collins and they preceded him in death.
Jerry was a very talented guy in many ways, but one talent was that of a Bass musician, although he played guitar also. He received his first guitar in his teens and loved to play music, playing in bands across the country and also played with various other talented musicians including Gene Watson, Johnny Paycheck, Johnny Russell and many more. The latest style was Country Western, but he could play all kinds. He was also a talented body shop guy, owning several of his own shops in multiple places. He could turn a junk heap into a prized possession. Jerry moved out West in the late 70’s, living some years in California and finally settling in Arizona 15 years ago, but Michigan was always his home where his kids were. He was a very devoted family man and cherished his kids, his grandkids and his great grandkids. He also enjoyed panning for gold.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memory his longtime, loving companion and fiancé, Doris Poburski of Arizona; 3 children: Dawn Boyd of Albion, Collin (Karla) Walch of Bellevue and Lisa Piper of Battle Creek; 10 grandchildren: Misty Boyd, Selena Murphy, Cody Boyd, Ashley Comer, Breeanna Metty, Ben Moran, Rachael Moran, Sarah Koenigsknecht, Alyssia Piper, Cade Piper, 12 great-grandchildren, brothers: Johnny (Bonnie) Collins, Jim (Peg) Collins and long-time friend, Carl Zappa.
