Gregory Allan Yokom, 72, of Albion, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. He was born on January 24, 1952, the son of Barry Yokom and Edna (Schneider) Yokom. Greg graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1970. Greg remained in the Albion area most of his life with the exception of a brief stay in California and northern Michigan. He spent many years working in the oilfield before becoming an over the road truck driver. This was a job that he loved. He reveled in the open spaces of the west but also loved to come home. Greg hitchhiked to California while young and demonstrated a wild side throughout his life that made him unique. His spare time was devoted to hunting, fishing, and enjoying his family and friends. He loved to relax with a beer in his hand and tell entertaining stories. He had a rare gift for finding humor in almost anything. Family gatherings would find Greg at the grill, because there was no one better. He had a big heart and would do anything for those he loved, although he sometimes tried hard to hide it.
Greg is survived by his sister Dianne (Ken) Tigard of Cottonwood, Arizona and brothers Richard (Jerrie) Yokom of Albion, Gary (Deena) Yokom of Williamsburg, and John (Judy) Yokom of Monroe Michigan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Plans for a service have not been made at this time.
