

Henrietta (Lawler) Swain was born on February 1, 1947 to Henry Lawler, Sr. and Alberta (Jackson) Lawler both who proceeded her in death. She was born the third of eight children. She was affectionately
called “ Guh” by her family and close friends.
Henrietta attended Albion public schools. God blessed her with three beautiful children. Henrietta moved her family to Detroit, Michigan where she later met and married Eddie Swain, Jr., who proceeded her in death. She worked very diligently to provide for her family. While living in Detroit, she attended the United Temple COGIC, under the leadership of the late Dave Evans, Jr. After retiring, Henrietta moved back to Albion, Michigan the home that she loved dearly. There she joined and attended Leggett Chapel-AME Zion Church under the
leadership of Rev. Darran Overton, now current Pastor, Rev. Ruby Alexander. She enjoyed traveling and playing her favorite pastime bingo. She got the most pleasure spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.
Henrietta was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2017.
She is survived by her children Andrea (Earnest) Cook of Westland, William Earl (Natiera) Cornelius of Detroit and Nancy (Nathan) Jessup of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Jammie (Marcus) McKinney of Charlotte, and Janice (Allen) White of Albion; a brother, James Lawler of Albion; step-brother, Jimmy Joiner of Albion; sister-in-law Jannie Mae Swain; nine grandchildren Mario, Angelo, Que'Sondra, Domonique, William, TaShar, Demetrius, Xavier and Valencia; twelve great grandchildren, and special friends Sandra Ridley, Juanita Hamilton, Burdell Wells, Nettie Wilson, Johnnie Morgan
and Mrs. Geneva Coney.
She was proceeded in death by her sister Patricia and her brothers William, Henry, and Terry.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 12:00PM at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace Street, Albion, Michigan 49224 with Rev. Ruby Alexander officiating. Family Hour will start before the service at 11:00AM.
Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Albion.
