Ira Mae Byrd

Ira Mae Byrd, age 80, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. She was born July 11, 1937 in Elizabeth, New Jersey the daughter of Lewis and Nettie Mae (Geter) Devine. She married Sammie Byrd on August 28, 1958 and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1998. Her parents and a host of siblings and other family and friends also precede her in death. Ira Mae Byrd was a faithful member of Lewis Chapel AME Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons: Rev. Sammie (Deanna) Byrd, Jr., Theodore Byrd, Terry Anthony Byrd, daughter, Dora Byrd, 2 sisters, Gertrude and Nettie Mae, goddaughter, Lori Griffin, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, special friends, Sheila Dunklin, Emma Howard, Mae Francis Sanders, Nell Smith, Willine Snyder and Vera Simpson.

Services for Ira will be celebrated on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Lewis Chapel AME Church, 522 W. Center St., Albion, MI with family hour beginning at 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM with Rev. Donald L. Phillips III officiating. Ira will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Sammie in Albion Memory Gardens.

Services are entrusted to J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, Albion.
