Jack Lee VanSchoick, age 75 of Jackson, formerly of Albion passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Henry Ford Health Systems in Jackson. Jack was born on August 3, 1943 in Albion the son of Max and Dorothy (Konkle) VanSchoick. Jack married Carol Boehlke on August 24, 1963 and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2013 after 49 years of marriage. Jack was also preceded in death by both parents, brother, Jerry VanSchoick and brother-in-law, Fred Boehlke.
A 1961 graduate of Albion High School, Jack began his working career as a stock boy at the A&P Grocery in Albion and worked his way up to Dairy Manager there; later he was employed with Southern Michigan News Group, retiring after several years of service. Jack was a very kind man who shared a smile and a kind word with anyone; he never met a stranger. He was an avid Michigan Fan who enjoyed playing Euchre, enjoyed music and attending concerts, especially gospel concerts. He was also very handy and found enjoyment tinkering around and fixing things.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three children: Pam (John) Stachnik, Lisa (Jon) Carey, Tim (Sarah) VanSchoick, special friend and companion, Pat Schittenhelm, grandchildren: Jordan and Michaela Stachnik and Max VanSchoick, brother, Keith (Ann) VanSchoick, sister-in-law, Mary VanSchoick, brothers-in-law, Gareld (Joanne) Boehlke, Butch (Judy) Boehlke and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
His family will receive visitors on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 5-8 PM and from 10 AM Saturday, December 15, 2018 until the time of his Going Home Celebration at 11:00 AM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI. Burial to follow at Wright Cemetery in Parma. The family will plan a gathering after services for a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Jackson Department on Aging where Jack found a lot of enjoyment in their many programs and activities and the many friendships he formed there. Their address is: 1715 Lansing Ave #672, Jackson, MI 49202.
A special acknowledgment goes to all the staff at the Henry Ford Hospital and the Specialty Clinic for the care and compassion given to not only Jack, but his family as well.
