Residence of Battle Creek, Michigan. He was born April 30, 1932 to Owen E. and F. Lucille (Parks) Deal in
Hartford, Michigan. On June 21, 1952, he married Noel L. Abshier.
Jim served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then started work at the A&P grocery
chain and spent most of his career as a meat manager for several area Felpausch Food Stores.
Jim was a member of American Legion Post #55 of Albion, the Wolverine Harmonica Club, and a local
Classic Car Group. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a big fan of the Detroit Lions and MSU football.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Albion.
Jim is survived by his wife Noel Deal; daughter, Claudia (Keith) Kittinger; sons, Larry (Karen) Deal,
David Deal, James O. (Kim) Deal and Michael (Nancy) Deal; sister, Sharon Harnden; brothers, Kenneth
(Betty) Deal, Robert (Jane) Deal; eight grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Deal and brothers-in-law, Ross Page and James
Harnden.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd
Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. Memorial Service will be Friday,
June 22, 10:00AM, at the First United Methodist Church, 600 E. Michigan Avenue, Albion, with
Pastor Leslee Fritz officiating. A private burial will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Albion, Glenn Arbor
Hospice Residence of Battle Creek, or the Forks Senior Center of Albion.
