James David Jiles

Born on November 13th, 1954, in Brundridge, AL, James was the beloved son of J. D. Jiles and Luceil (Morgan) Jiles- Curry. He graduated from Albion High School in 1973 and went on to study Business at Central Michigan University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. James was also a member of Beta Eta Tau Fraternity.

James relocated to Houston, Texas in 1981. He and Teresa Brewer wed in 1985 and started a family in 1988 with the birth of Tiara Jewel Jiles. He dedicated his career to Retail Management, working for several Fortune 500 companies. He retired in 2022 after dedicating 37 years to his profession. He walked in humility in all that he did in his career, putting other’s needs before his own. He would always make sure that his team was well taken care of and go above and beyond to ensure it. He was a mentor to many, built lifelong friendships, and left a lasting impact, not only in business, but in the lives of those he worked with. He is greatly revered to this day and known for his noble hearted leadership.

Outside of work James enjoyed sports, music and DJing. He loved to travel and was also an avid reader.

James is survived by his wife Teresa Brewer Jiles of Battle Creek, MI and daughter Tiara Jewel Jiles of Houston, Texas, four brothers – L.C. Jiles of Jackson, MI, William Curry of Houston, Texas, Larry Curry and Alvin Curry of Albion, MI, 2 sisters-in-law Claudine Jiles of Jackson, MI and Dee Curry of Houston, TX, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather William Lee Curry, 2 sisters - Minnie Williams, Willa Nichole Harrison, and brother Willie D. Jiles.

Though we grieve his passing, we rejoice in the promise of resurrection and the assurance that he now dwells in the presence of the Lord. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to shine as a beacon of love and service.

Services for James will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025. Family hour will take place at 1:00PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 49224.
