
at his home. He was born in 1943 in Evarts, Kentucky to Murphy and Joanna Kirk. In
1963 he married Carole Wainwright who survives.
After graduating from St. Charles Virginia High School in 1961 he came to Albion in September
of 1961. He worked at Johnson Manufacturing Company from 1961-1965. In 1965 he joined the
Albion Fire Department rising to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief, he was also the training officer
for the Albion Fire Department, he was the Artist along with Betty Lene & Chief Baker who
designed the shoulder patch for the Albion Police Department. He retired after 12 years of driving
a truck for Plassman and Company. James was a member of the Big 9 Sportsmen’s Club

(Amanda Williams) Gifford of Albion and the pride & joy of his life twin granddaughters
Audrey & Alexandra Zblewski of Albion
Great Grandchildren-Exio Estep, Abbigal & Leah Partridge, Braxton & Scarlett Gifford
and another coming in November

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Luke and a sister Linda
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 2:00-4:00P.M. and
6:00-8:00P.M at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 1:00P.M. at the funeral home with Bishop
John Coleman officiating.
