Johnye Marie Curtis-Glaspie

Johnye Marie Curtis Glaspie was born March 1, 1950 to the union of Tom Franklin Curtis and Johnye Marie Rogers Curtis, at Clara Frye Hospital in Tampa, FL. During her teenage years she moved to Albion, MI with her father & mother, Essie Wesley Curtis.

Johnye Marie was raised in a Christian home and attended the family church, Rogers Memorial United Methodist church, Bradenton, FL and Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Albion, MI. She received her formal education in the Hillsboro & Leon, Florida and Calhoun, MI Counties Public School systems. Upon graduation from Washington Gardner High School in Albion; she matriculated academically at Florida A & M University, Tallahassee, FL and Bethune-Cookman College, Daytona Beach, FL. She returned to Albion once again, whereby she attended University Barber College in Detroit. She subsequently met the love of her life and companion, Larrien Darnell "Donnie" Glaspie. They were united in Holy Matrimony in 1983. To this union there were no children, yet, she was "the coolest Auntie" to all of her nieces, nephews and dearly loved her entire family.

"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;" Ecclesiastes 3:1-2. Johnye Marie, age 69, departed this life on February 19, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Franklin Curtis, maternal mother, Johnye Marie Rogers Curtis, grandparents and nephew, Dhanthan Amadi DeVoe Boggan.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving mother, Essie Wesley Curtis of Albion; sister, Mary Elizabeth Curtis Boggan of Lansing; brothers, Robert Earl Wesley (Lynn) of Flint, Thomas "Tommy" Lewis Curtis (Cora) of Port Saint Joseph, FL; uncles, aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, many caring friends and neighbors.

My dear SWEET cousin...your smile is forever etched in my memory, your loving ways forever warms my heart! I’ll miss the twenty questions you could roll out to me on any topic we were discussing & your calls to me in Georgia asking me to contact mutual friends in Michigan...your forever to do list!
