

Joyce Ann Van Wert (Jager) age 89 of Homer passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 in her home under the loving care of hospice and her family. She was born in Plainwell, MI on October 10, 1935 the daughter of Fritz and Lillian (Wiggington) Jager. She was preceded in death by both parents and siblings, Ronald Jager, Margaret Cowels and Kenneth Jager.
On July 12, 1958, Joyce was united in marriage to Robert Van Wert and he survives. This year, they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage. Joyce also leaves her children, son, Kevyn (Mary Worthington) Van Wert and daughter Tamara (Doran) Winchell, 4 grandchildren: Jody (Lewis) Dinguss, Vickie (Matt) Huntley, Valerie (Joel) Flees, Devan Winchell; great-grandchildren: Ellie Dodd, Emerson Dodd, Hailee Huntley, McKinley Huntley, Sophia Huntley, Charlotte Huntley and Cameryn Flees and brother Stanley Jager.
Joyce graduated from Plainwell High School in 1953 and worked for the Plainwell Sanitarium for five years until she was married and beginning her family. She was a member of the Extension Club, a 4-H Leader, a Campfire Leader and enjoyed gardening, and would work with Robert’s mother to freeze vegetables for her family. She also enjoyed Square Dancing; Her family fondly remembers spending every Saturday night for the better part of over 40 years dancing the nights away. Joyce enjoyed horses as well and would frequently share stories about her horse that she sadly had to sell when she married and moved to Florida. That horse always held a special place in her heart throughout her life.
Joyce’s family will receive visitors at J. Kevin Tidd funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 5-8PM with and evening prayer service at 7:30PM led by Father Richard Altine. A Committal at Riverside Cemetery will take place at 10AM on Tuesday, March 4th.
