Judith Rea Cornell

Judith “Judy” R. (McPeck) Cornell age 73 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2021. She was born October 10, 1947 in Concord, MI the daughter of Hubert L. and Barbara J. (Howard) McPeck. On October 9, 1971, she was united in marriage to Charles J. Cornell Sr. Her husband of 35 years preceded her in death on May 15, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sandra A Reiniche. Judy was a 1965 graduate of Concord High School, earned an Associate’s Degree in Law from Kellogg Community College while working at the Albion Department of Public Safety from 1958 to 1971 and later returning in 1986 to 1988 when she retired. Judy loved her volunteer work; she gave her time and talent to many organizations over the years such as Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI, Burnham Brook of Battle Creek, MI, Hospice Bereavement Services of Battle Creek, MI and Suring Public Library of Suring, WI. Judy was also a member of several organizations: Founder and charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of the Police Wayne B. Fitch Lodge #138 serving 6 years as President; also served as the President and Secretary for the State of Michigan Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of the Police. She was a member and at one time served as Secretary of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #55 in Albion. She was a former member of Christ Apostolic Church of Albion, serving as missionary secretary, serving with the youth of the church and served at church camp as a counselor for 11 years; she was named 45th in the Nation as Sunday School Teacher of the year in 2004. She was also a published author in the National Poet’s Society where she received recognition for her work and the President’s Award in 2003. Judy is survived by step-children: Charles (Cindy) Cornell, James Cornell, Michael (Nancy) Cornell, Daniel Cornell, Patricia Cornell, Heart Children, Bradford and Donette Maney, Step-sisters, Linda (John) Reiniche, Sharon (David) Reiniche, Aunt, Marilyn Williams, brother, Charles McPeck and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, Step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and special friends. According to her wishes, cremation will take place and she will be interred in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with her late husband, Charles.
