Lacy Allen

Born April 15, 1962 to Menifee and Louberdia Allen in Salyersville, KY. He was 1 of 11 children. Lacy and his large family moved to Homer, MI when he was 3 yrs old. Lacy attended Homer Community Schools, where he rose to fame as quite an impressive athlete. Football, basketball, and track were his favorites. He was a graduate of Homer High School’s class of 1980. This is where he also met the love of his life. Lacy married LaDonna Roberts on September 17, 1983. They have been inseparable ever since. Three children would bless their lives and family quickly became Lacy’s number one priority.

He worked for the State of Michigan Cotton Correctional Facility in Jackson, MI for 31 years. In true Lacy Allen fashion, he climbed the ranks and retired as Captain Allen in 2010. This man was quite the character. Quick with wit, it was not uncommon to hear laughter boasting from any room he was present in. He was the kind of person you would first meet and feel like you’ve known for years. He was a lover of country music and could sing the songs well. He enjoyed a night out of karaoke and dinner at many local establishments. Lacy fancied a good meal. He was quite the cook and always eager to serve his family and friends with his latest and greatest recipes. Football would often fill his weekends. An ever loyal fan of the Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions, he was upfront and honest with his thoughts on their performance. In 2023 LaDonna suffered a life altering stroke. Her devoted husband never left her side and tended to her every need until his last breath. They shared that special kind of love where even death could not part them. She knows he is a guardian angel, still by her side until she is reunited with him.

Lacy is survived by his wife LaDonna Allen, daughter Stephanie (George) Vaughn, grandchildren Georgie, Levi, and Lacy Vaughn, son Zachary (Allyson) Allen, granddaughters Emeline, Lyla, and Melody Allen, sister Verna (Lonnie) Basham, sister Loretta Perkins, sister Polly (Ralph) Summa, sister Daisy Wright, brother Sam (Brenda) Allen, brother Jack Allen, brother Charles (Cheryl) Allen.

Lacy is preceded in death by his parents Menifee and Louberdia Allen, sister Evelyn Allen, brother John Allen, brother Kindle Allen, daughter Kimberly Allen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
