Larry was born August 19, 1957 to Willard and Opal Woods, their youngest of 6 children, and remained a lifetime resident of Albion, Michigan.
While attending Albion High School, Larry played the drums in band or you could find him playing any kind of sport. After starting his family, Larry became active in youth sports, coaching and mentoring many athletes and even had a team bearing his name, Woods Tax Service. As an avid sports fan, Larry would root for anyone except MSU, but his loyalties were rooted with the Detroit Tigers, Pittsburg Steelers, and U of M.
On January 13, 1976, he married Brenda Tucker. There is something to be said about meeting the love of your life as a teen. After 45 years together, Brenda remained his lifelong girlfriend. Together, they raised 3 children and were blessed with 3 wonderful grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife Brenda of Albion, MI; his children; Crystal Woods of Marshall, MI, Lisa Woods (Mike) of Albion, MI and Matthew Woods of Jackson, MI. His grandchildren are Kaitlyn, Andrew and Aubree.
Larry was employed at Albion Malleable Iron Company, Albion, MI until their closure, then worked until his retirement in 2020 at MACI in Parma, MI. He also ran Woods Tax Service for many years in Albion.
His surviving siblings are: Sisters: Betty (Rickerd) Strawcutter, Adrian, MI, Shirley (Brent) Hollingsworth, New Waverly, TX; Brothers: Paul (Phyllis) Woods, Eckford, MI, William (Debbie) Woods, Albion, MI.
Larry has an abundance of family who will miss him dearly, but his relationship with his nephew, Johnny Wilson, was truly special and must be acknowledged.
Larry was preceded in death by his adoring parents Willard (2011) and Opal (2019) Woods, and everyone’s favorite, his beautiful sister, Roberta Wilbur (2017).
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 12PM with visitation one hour prior at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI 49224.
