Lola Ethel McClelland age 98 passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at Marshall Nursing and Rehab, Marshall, MI, under the loving care of her family and Southern Care Hospice of Jackson. She was born April 2, 1920 in Couch, Missouri to Thomas Wayman Cypret and Virgie Lee (Bell) Cypret. She married Everett McClelland on August 24, 1936 and he preceded her in death 1997.

Lola loved working in both her vegetable and flower gardens, canning many of the vegetables and she liked making a variety of jams. When her children would walk home from school, they could smell the freshly baked bread that she had made for them as an after school snack. Lola was a baker and enjoyed making cookies and pies for her grandchildren. Among Lola’s many talents, was being a master seamstress, often making her children’s clothing. She was also very good at quilting and crocheting. Lola made many table covers and doylies. Although she wasn’t able to go fishing often, Lola certainly had plenty of fun when she did. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She worked Albion College for 16 years and prior to that she cared for her family and home.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; sisters, Imogene Roucher and Opal (Curtis) Staley, Anne Lou, Carolynn Sue; brothers, Billy Cypret, Paul (Clementine) Cypret, Charlie (Louise) Cypret; infant brother, Sammy Cypret; and son-in-law Sam Pace.

Lola is survived by her daughters, Kathy Henson and Geneva Faye Pace; son, Cecil (Sandy) McClelland; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchild; and half-sister, Oweda Few; several nieces and nephews.

Lola’s family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to all the staff at Maplewood of Marshall, Marshall Nursing and Rehab and Southern Care Hospice of Jackson for the excellent care given to their mom. Lola will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the many new acquaintances that she made while living at both Maplewood of Marshall and Marshall Nursing and Rehab.

Grandma Mac.

Some of the best memories i have are of staying at your house on hill rd. Climbing the trees in the back yard, my brother Marc was smaller so he could climb higher, picking fruits and vegetables from your garden, the fresh strawberry dessert you made was amazing. Sleeping in the beds with the crisp clean linens that smelled of springtime everytime i stayed over even if it was february. I love you grandma mac, im sorry i wasnt able to come see you as often the last few years but it has not diminished my love for you, you will always be a huge part of me. Rest well, you have earned it, and hug grandpa macs neck for me when you see him.
