Louise Marie Pratt

Louise Marie Pratt, age 78 of Albion passed away peacefully in her home under the loving care of her family and hospice on Friday, March 4, 2022. She was born June 9, 1943 in Albion, MI the daughter of Luke and Helen (Galicke) Kracko.

On August 19, 1967, Louise was united in marriage to Sam Pratt and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leonard Kracko and sister, Laurie Gerard.

Louise attended Western Michigan University, earning her degree in teaching which she used to dedicate her life to educating children. She work for two years in Kalamazoo before coming back to work in her home town of Albion where she taught for 40 years until her retirement. Louise was well loved and respected in her career, even receiving continued love from her students as well a fellow teachers long after she retired.

Louise loved being able to make a positive impact in the lives of children both in and out of school, not only in her community, but also her own children. She spent many years involved in Cub Scouts, as a den mother, then Boy Scouts as a Troop Leader as well as serving as a 4-H Leader for many years. She also loved animals, spending many years training, riding and showing horses, training and showing dogs and even raising ducks.

A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, who was really the hub of her family, she was a fabulous cook and made the best meatloaf. She never missed a game or athletic event and also never missed a day of work. She was the recipient of 2- 20 year perfect attendance awards in her time as a teacher. She was also involved in the Albion Festival of the Forks; walking in the parade every year for over 40 years.

Louise’s zest for life came out in everything that she did in her life. Her first car was a 1968 Firebird 400 which she loved to drive fast and she also enjoyed playing slots at the casino. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Louise leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Jeffery Pratt and Christopher Pratt both of Albion, grandchildren: Jeffery Alexander Pratt, Xavier Donovan Pratt, Carter Samuel Pratt, Christopher Luke Pratt, Joshua Allen Pratt, Great-grandchildren: Levi Donovan Pratt, Kyler Donovan Pratt, Gracelynn Louise Pratt, Jaxon Samuel Pratt, sister, Louie Sylvinski.

According to her wishes, cremation will take place and Louise will be buried with her husband in Riverside Cemetery, Albion. Her family will hold a Celebration of her life at a later date.
