

Maralyn (Toby) R. Schermer 90 0f Concord, Mi. died May 25th, 2016 at Maplewood of Marshall.
Maralyn was born August 8, 1925 in Grand Rapids, Mi. to Theodore and Laura (VanderVelden) Baker. She moved to Holland Mi. with her family and graduated from Holland High School in 1945. She attended the University of Michigan and graduated from the Harrington College of Interior Design in Chicago in 1947.
On June 25, 1949 she married Wallace H (Wally) Schermer in Holland Mi. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2010. Maralyn and Wally spent time living in Chicago and Holland before eventually moving to Albion in 1954 to raise their family. They later relocated to the Concord area residing on the Kalamazoo River.
Maralyn was involved many years with the Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. She was member of the Albion Hospital Service League and the ELT club. She enjoyed playing bridge, interior design and loved keeping up with MSU sports on TV.
Maralyn was a devoted wife and mother and is survived by son David (Janice) Schermer of Portland, Oregon, daughter Lisa (Jim) Torrey of Duck Lake, Mi., her sister June (Robert) Heasley of Kalamazoo, Mi., 4 grandchildren Maren Schermer, Erin Leckey, Jamien Leckey, Jeffrey Torrey and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Richard Schermer.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
