Mary Magdalene Pressley

Mary M. Pressley passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the age of 96 years. Mary was born in Monroe County, Alabama where she attended Antioch and Mt. Rose Schools in Alabama. She married A.J. Pressley and a few years later the family moved to Albion.

Mary has always been very active in her church, Grace Temple Church of God in Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher for many, many years. She was very dedicated to her God and her Church.

Mary had been in the nursing profession for over 30 years. Everyone in the community of Albion knew her. When you met Mary there was always an exchange of a big hug. She loved people and was very active in the community. She was a board member at the Forks Senior Center which she thoroughly enjoyed and worked with the Healthy Babies Group. For many years, she helped with the Red Cross Blood Drives as well as the Wellness Health Group that did Blood Pressure checks for Albion residents. As Parish Nurse, she also did weekly blood checks for those who wanted them at her church.

She leaves to cherish her memory 2 daughters, Dixie (Bill) Grant and Lenn Reid; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildren; 1 great great great grandchild; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lillie E. Dexter, husband, A.J., a son Alvin Pressley, a daughter Lillie Bennett and grandson Brandon Coney; 2 sisters, Janie Nelson and Creola Nelson.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 18, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00PM at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 19th at 12:00PM at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace Street, Albion beginning with family hour at 11:00AM with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
