Mathew Paul Porter Sr.

Mathew Paul Porter Sr. age 66 of Homer passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in Marshall under the loving care of his family. He was born August 28, 1958 in Hazel Park, MI the son of Marion and Evelyn (Boussoum) Porter, Sr.

Mathew met the love of his life, Peggy Grady and they were united in marriage on December 2, 1977 in Hazel Park. They just celebrated 47 years of marriage. Mathew lost his father at a young age, but was blessed with his step-father, George Dew, whom his mother married the same year he and Peggy were married.

Mathew was a hard worker and a dedicated provider for his family. He was employed with Litchfield Industries and later Recreation Creation, now called Qualite until his retirement in 2020. He loved fiercely and protected his family with all that he was. He was a jokester as well, enjoying having fun with those that he loved, especially his family. He also enjoyed playing cards.

Mathew leaves behind his wife, Peggy; Step-father, George Dew “Grandpa Dew”; children: Erica (Christopher) Beilby, Mathew (Hillary) Porter, Jr., Shree (Toby) New, Bradley (Alyssa Gibson) Porter, grandchildren: Joshua, Samantha, Ashley, Mykala, Caleb, Abigail, Ortis, Shawn, great-grandchildren: Nova, Octavia; siblings: Susan (George) Ballinger, Donalda Rospierski, Cole (Margaret) Porter and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mathew was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lorraine Hawkins, brother, Marion Porter Jr. “June” and sister, Rachael Holland.

According to Mathew’s wishes, he will be cremated and his family will celebrate his life with a gathering at a later date.
