

Matias Saldivar, a devoted and loyal individual, passed away on November 5, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on December 21, 1946, in Santa Rosa, Texas the son of Calixtro and Matilda (Rodriguez) Saldivar. Matias was known for his hard-working nature and dedication throughout his life.
Matias graduated from Gibsonburg, Ohio, and went on to serve his country with honor in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he pursued a career in the heavy equipment industry, obtaining an associate's degree in the field. For 37 years, Matias was a respected Heavy Machinery Mechanic at Harvard Industries (Albion Malleable) in Albion, Michigan, where he lived.
He was married to Jesucita Saldivar “Susie”, and together they built a loving family. Matias is survived by his sons, Rene (Shannen) Saldivar and Patrick Saldivar. He was a proud grandfather to Jeremy Saldivar, Wesley Saldivar, Michael Saldivar, and Wyatt (Maria) Saldivar, and a great-grandfather to Marceline Saldivar. He is also remembered by several nieces and nephews, and his sister, Maggie (Ken) Yinger.
In his personal life, Matias had a passion for BBQ, music, and sports. He was an ardent supporter of the Minnesota Vikings, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Detroit Tigers. Matias also enjoyed playing softball, basketball, bowling, and even attempted golf in his later years, though his golf game was in its early development stages.
Matias Saldivar's legacy of hard work, loyalty, and devotion will be cherished by all who knew him.
Matias is preceded in death by both his parents, his beloved wife Susie and siblings: Guadalupe Delapaz, Virginia Garza, Mary Alvarez and Joe Saldivar.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Matias is planned for Saturday, November 15, 2025 with visitation beginning at 12PM until the time of service at 1PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI with Father Richard Altine officiating. He will then be laid to rest in Riverside cemetery.
