Norman Arneal Lane

in Dowagiac, Michigan. Norman’s family relocated to Albion later that year. He attended

Albion Junior High School and graduated from Albion High School in 1974. Norman worked

for Hayes Albion in Albion, Jackson Housing Commission in Jackson, Jackson Community

College and the State of Michigan Correctional Facility in Jackson, as well as many

maintenance and janitorial jobs in the community. Norman was awarded Employee of the

Year in 2010 by the State of Michigan Correction Facility. Norman retired from the State

of Michigan Correctional Facility in 2011.

Norman was known for his warm smile and his generous spirit. He was always willing to

help and contribute to the needs of others. He was a faithful worker around the church

during fellowship meetings and other events that required his hand in the kitchen

cleaning pots, pans, skillets, etc. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, and traveling, training dogs

and writing and distributing Bible tracks.

In 1977 Norman accepted the Lord into his life and united with the Church of God in

Jackson, Michigan. Norman loved to speak and testify about His God describing Him

as the Great God of the Universe, the Almighty Creator. One of his favorite sayings

was “I’m just taking it one day at a time”.

Norman is survived by his children Norman Shawtez (Wendy) Lane, Kendrick Lane,

April Lane, stepdaughter Edshuna Smith, Lashay Smith, Kamara Roney; grandchildren

Gianna, Biannca, Kyran, Kaleigha, Sariyah, Zamirah and Nehemiah; parents Norma

Jean and Arneal Lane; sisters Cheryl (Waverly) Short, Brenda Cady and Karen Lane;

brothers Bruce Lane, Steven (Nancy) Lane, Brian Lane, Kevin Lane, Mark Lane and

A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and one special friend James Farr, Jr.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the

J. Keivn Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224.

Funeral Service will be Monday, April 9, 2012 at 12:00 (Noon) at the Church of God Church,

140 W. South Street, Jackson, Michigan 49203 with Pastor Frank Hampton Jr. officiating.

Family Hour will be Monday, April 9th at 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

Burial will be at Albion Memory Gardens in Albion.
