Patricia attended the Clarence Center one-room schoolhouse until the 8th grade and went on to graduate from Albion High School in 1958. After marrying her husband, Karl Hardtke in 1961, they began a life filled with family and travel. They spent 55 years of traveling even making it to Alaska and Iceland. She loved sports, never missing any of her children’s or grandchildren’s ball games. She especially loved tennis and all Detroit sports teams. She was Karl’s right-hand man on the farm for many years and worked every summer and fall at the Nelson’s Apple Orchard where it was more than work, they became family.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Karl Hardtke; daughter, Sara (Cameron) Hardtke-Sayers; sister, Carolyn (Blynn) Dodge; grandchildren, Jessica Hardtke, Logan Hardtke Sayers, Hayden Hardtke-Sayers and Kellyn Hardtke-Sayers and great-grandson, Liam French.
She is preceded in death by her sons, Karl RP Hardtke, Jr. and Russell W. Hardtke and her parents, Lyle and Leola Landenberger.
As Patricia wished, cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Patricia’s memory to Oaklawn Hospice.
The family would like to thank Oaklawn Hospice and their nurses for the exceptional care they gave Patricia. Thank you, Marsia, Charity, Meggie, Jen, and many others.
