Age 93 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte under the loving care of his family and hospice after a brief illness. Bob was born September 1, 1921 in Battle Creek the son of Fernand and Josephine (Van Devegaet) Beglin. He grew up in Battle Creek, graduating from Battle Creek Central in 1939.
He married Helen Frances Clark on July 25, 1944. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Helen and their five children, Alan (Maryann) Beglin, Martha Bormann, David (Sandy) Beglin, Roger (Heidi) Beglin, and Amy (Carl) Maurer; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, John (Marian) Beglin, son-in-law, Douglas Bormann, daughter-in-law, Kathy (Alan) Beglin and sister-in-law, Delores (William) Martin.
Bob served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service in the European front. He worked briefly in Washington D.C. for the Federal Government pre and post WWII, settling in Albion for the duration of his life. In addition to working in Washington D.C., Bob also worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Woodlin Metal Products, Albion Malleable, Permabilt Manufactured Homes, and OK Boiler and Welding Works, retiring in 1992.
Bob and Helen have been faithful members of the First Baptist Church of Albion, since 1953, when they were baptized together on Easter Sunday. Many precious memories and friendships were gained there, as well as eternal rewards.
Bob enjoyed his loving family, traveling, fishing, wintering in Florida until 2012, Detroit Tigers baseball, and evening cards or Yahtzee games with family and friends to stay sharp. Also the occasional massage and the more occasional nap!
Bob’s family will celebrate his life on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Albion, 980 Haven Rd., Albion, MI 49224 with Pastor Wilbur Wagenschutz officiating. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, April 14th from 5-8 PM at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI.
